For car and van rental businesses
Software for car and van rental
Rentolino is web software for small and medium-sized businesses that rent out cars, vans, campers and motorcycles. It handles tariffs with included kilometres, bills extra kilometres at the return, takes reservations online and shows vehicles with a GPS tracker on the map.
The trial is free and needs no credit card.
Starting point
Between the key rack and the odometer
Anyone who rents out cars or vans knows the peaks: people move house at the end of the month, everyone wants the same van on Saturday, and the phone rings while you are handing over a vehicle.
Then there is the billing. The included kilometres are on one note, the odometer reading at the return on another, and someone works out the extra kilometres by hand in the evening. Only the renter knows where the vehicle is right now.
With Rentolino
How you rent out vehicles with Rentolino

Tariffs with kilometres
For each vehicle you set tariffs by hours, days, weeks or months, with included kilometres and a price per extra kilometre, or with unlimited kilometres. For a rental over several days Rentolino works out the cheapest combination of your tariffs. You can also pick one tariff or adjust the price.
Odometer at handover and return
Rentolino takes the odometer reading at the start from the vehicle. At the return you enter the final reading: the extra kilometres are calculated, and the new reading applies to the next rental.
Invoice with one click
The completed rental becomes an invoice with the rental price and the extra kilometres, as a PDF with the Swiss QR bill. For business customers with longer rentals you first write a quote and turn it into the invoice.
Bookable online at your times
On your booking page customers see vehicles, prices and requirements such as driving licence category and minimum age. Per location you set opening hours, earliest pick-up, latest return and a lead time, so that nobody books a pick-up ten minutes from now.
GPS tracking
With a tracker in the vehicle you see its position and speed on the map. After the rental has ended, Rentolino stores the distance driven, the top speed and the idle time with the booking.
Several locations, one calendar
Every vehicle belongs to a location with its own address and opening hours. Employees sign in with their own login and work in the same calendar.

Questions and answers
Questions vehicle rental businesses ask
Does Rentolino bill extra kilometres automatically?
Yes. As soon as you enter the odometer reading at the return, Rentolino calculates the kilometres driven, subtracts the included ones and multiplies the rest by your price per extra kilometre. The amount appears as a separate line on the invoice.
Does Rentolino create a rental contract or a handover report?
No. Rentolino creates quotes and invoices as PDFs, but no rental contract and no damage report with photos. You keep those documents as before. You can add notes to the rental and to the customer.
Which vehicles can I add?
As the type you choose car, motorcycle, scooter, camper, bike, boat, trailer or other. A van is added as a car. Every vehicle has its own tariffs, a location, a registration number and a status: available, rented or in maintenance.
Do I need my own server for GPS tracking?
No. You enter the model and the IMEI of the tracker with the vehicle, and Rentolino sets up the connection to the tracking service. Trackers from Teltonika are well tested, for example the hard-wired FMB920 or the FMB003 for the OBD socket.
How does Rentolino prevent a vehicle from being rented out twice?
Every booking is checked against the existing bookings of the vehicle, whether you enter it in the workspace or a customer reserves it online. If it overlaps with another one, including the buffer you have set, it is rejected.
